Hangzhou Tech Drying Equipment

Chamber kilns for timber drying, thermal modification and packaging heat treatment

Hangzhou Tech Drying Equipment builds chamber kilns for sawn timber in Lin'an, Hangzhou: conventional drying kilns below 100 °C, fast-drying kilns for softwood and hardwood, high-temperature hardwood kilns, thermal modification kilns, heat-treatment kilns for wooden packaging and heat-pump dehumidification kilns. A sawmill, furniture plant or pallet producer can ask it to propose the chamber, fans, heating coils, venting, humidification and controls as one package. [1]

Tech Drying ZQ conventional timber drying kiln

The Tech Drying ZQ series is a conventional chamber kiln for softwood and hardwood, built in sizes from 10 to 200 m³ and run at up to 100 °C. It can be heated by steam, hot water, thermal oil or electricity, loads by forklift and can stand indoors or outdoors. To get a comparable quote, give Tech Drying your species, board thickness, moisture targets and heat source, and ask for the chamber size and net timber volume per charge. [2]

Company background

Tech Drying's site carries the English name of 杭州太

干燥设备有限

司 and a factory address on Baini Road in Lin'an, which matches the company's registration. The company traces its kiln work to 1999, inside an earlier Zhejiang timber business, and set up the drying-equipment company as a separate subsidiary in 2007.

Its timeline runs from kiln design work by the founder in 1989, through links with the wood science institute of Zhejiang A&F University in the mid-1990s, to an aluminium-alloy kiln generation in 2002. Later steps it lists are a combined thermal modification and high-temperature kiln in 2010, fast kilns for softwood, hardwood and bamboo in 2014, heat-pump drying and an upgraded remote-monitoring system in 2019, and a high-temperature hardwood kiln in 2020. The company also credits its founder with national science awards and patents.

Kiln lines and construction

The range is organised by drying duty. The conventional kiln suits softwood and hardwood below 100 °C. Separate lines cover faster softwood schedules, high-temperature hardwood drying, thermal modification, phytosanitary heat treatment for packaging timber, and heat-pump dehumidification for sites without steam or thermal oil.

Tech Drying builds its chambers with aluminium-alloy walls and frames and stainless-steel heat-exchanger pipework, and fits a controller that regulates temperature and humidity and can be monitored remotely. It says it holds ISO 9001 and CE certification, has installed more than 3,000 kilns and sells into more than 45 countries.

Choosing the heat source first

A kiln behaves as a process system. The same chamber gives different results with different species, incoming moisture, board thickness, stacking, heat source and schedule, so proposals can only be compared when they start from the same inputs.

The heat source is the first decision. Tech Drying offers steam, hot water, thermal oil or electric heating for its conventional series. Each needs its own site plant: a boiler with condensate return, a thermal-oil heater, or a large electrical supply. Settle early who provides the boiler, the piping outside the chamber, the foundations, the electrical cabinet and the cabling.

Drying also decides how the next machine behaves. Boards that leave the kiln with uneven moisture keep moving after thickness planing, and a double-sided thickness planer will expose a poor charge within the first few pieces.

Project fit

Tech Drying fits timber processors who need a chamber kiln sized in cubic metres of stacked timber and want one supplier for the chamber and its systems. Because it also sells heat-treatment kilns, it suits sites that need both drying and phytosanitary treatment, such as a packaging plant shipping export pallets.

Its pages do not cover continuous dryers, veneer dryers or vacuum drying. For very thick hardwood or high-value species, ask for a schedule written for that species and results from a comparable charge.

Prepare a useful enquiry

Describe the timber first: species, thickness and width ranges, typical lengths, incoming and target moisture content, and the end use. Give the weekly volume and say whether you also need packaging heat treatment. State your existing heat source and its spare capacity, and whether the kiln stands indoors or outdoors.

Ask for a proposal naming the kiln line, chamber dimensions, net charge volume for your stacking and a sample schedule. Ask how moisture is measured during the cycle and how the final spread is checked. Request an itemised offer for the chamber, fans, heating and humidification equipment, controls, installation supervision and spare parts.

Questions before a written offer

Is the published capacity the volume of timber per charge?

The conventional series is published as 10–200 m³. Ask Tech Drying whether a quoted figure is gross chamber volume or net timber volume for your board thickness, sticker size and stack dimensions.

Will the drying-time and energy figures apply to my timber?

Drying time and energy use depend on species, thickness and schedule. Ask for the schedule and expected cycle time for the timber you will dry, and agree how the result will be measured at commissioning.

Can I see a kiln working?

Ask for a reference site drying a similar species and thickness, and for the first charge to be commissioned with you present.

Confirm in writing before ordering

  • Gross chamber volume and net timber volume per charge for your stacking
  • Heat source, heat demand and which boiler, heater, piping and cabling are in the offer
  • Drying schedule, expected cycle time and the final-moisture acceptance method
  • Copies of the ISO 9001 and CE certificates, with issuer and product scope
  • Controller language, data export and remote-access support
