Pinmai PE-2C7J straight-edge banding machine

Pinmai's sheet lists edge tape thickness 0.4–3 mm, edge tape width 12–55 mm, panel thickness 10–50 mm, minimum panel width 60 mm, feed speed 13–18 m/min, working air pressure of at least 0.7 MPa, total power 12 kW, five dust connections of 100 mm diameter, machine weight 1250 kg and overall dimensions of 3640 × 690 × 1240 mm.

On straight-edge banders the working sequence can include pre-milling, gluing, end trimming, rough and fine trimming, corner rounding, scraping and buffing. Which of these the PE-2C7J has decides the finish and how much hand work follows, so the unit list is the first thing to request.

Tape thickness and width set the edge material. A 3 mm maximum covers thick PVC and ABS edging, and the 0.4 mm minimum covers thin paper or melamine edges, which need even glue application. The 55 mm maximum tape width has to cover your panel thickness plus trimming allowance.

Panels can be 10–50 mm thick, so doubled 36 mm or 38 mm tops fit. Ask whether the trimming and corner-rounding units work across the full range. The 60 mm minimum width matters for rails and shelf strips; narrower parts need one of Pinmai's narrow-panel models.

The 13–18 m/min figure is conveyor speed. Parts per hour depend on panel length, the gap between panels and the edges per part, so calculate output from your own cutting list.

Pinmai lists separate PUR and laser-edging models, which points to conventional hot-melt glue on the PE-2C7J. Ask for the glue type, glue-pot capacity and heat-up time. For moisture-resistant kitchen or bathroom joints, compare it with Pinmai's PUR models.

The 0.7 MPa air pressure and five 100 mm dust connections are installation needs. Ask for air consumption in litres per minute and extraction airflow per connection, so you can size the compressor and dust collector.

The PE-2C7 and PE-2C7J appear as two different catalogue entries, alongside narrow-panel, upper-and-lower glue pot, PUR and laser-edging models. If a quotation names a model without the suffix, ask whether it is the same machine. Outside Pinmai, the Deli MFB104 record publishes minimum panel length as well as width, a value the PE-2C7J sheet leaves out. For curved edges the relevant comparison is a swing-arm edge bander, because a straight-through machine cannot follow a curve.

Send panels of your own board with the thinnest and thickest tapes you use, and the narrowest and shortest parts. Ask for edged samples with the feed speed, glue temperature and units recorded. Check the glue line, corner rounding, scraping and tape overhang, and look at the joints again after a day.

State your panel materials, thickness range, smallest part, edge materials and thicknesses, glue type and daily edge metres. Ask for the unit list, glue system, air and extraction needs, operator numbers and a sample run.
