A horizontal slicer moves a knife across a clamped flitch and peels off one thin sheet per stroke. Sheets come off in sequence, so the grain pattern stays matched from sheet to sheet: that is what decorative veneer buyers pay for. The BB1228 suits mills producing face veneer for furniture, flooring and panel lamination. Rotary-cut veneer for plywood cores comes from a different machine, a peeling lathe such as the Jinlun JLXQ260-50B.
Servo feeding sets the thickness of each sheet. Automatic separation of the knife and pressure bar on the return stroke stops the knife rubbing the flitch face between cuts.
